Journey Through Time

A digital library, offering a rich tapestry of historical accounts

It is admitted and recognized around the world that the mother tongue is an essential element of a human being’s identity and development — “it is indeed the mother tongue that guarantees the intellectual take-off of the child from the beginning of schooling.”

Despite foreign languages becoming dominant across Africa, our mother tongues remain the true deposits of our knowledge and sciences.

Biography of ADIGBE Togbedji

The Visionary Behind Gbekoun

ADIGBE Togbedji was a distinguished scholar, educator, philosopher, naturalist, and visionary from the Republic of Benin. Born in Mondotokpa, Dangbo, he devoted his life to the advancement of knowledge, cultural preservation, and the empowerment of African societies through authentic education.

After serving in public education and becoming a pedagogical advisor, he embarked on a lifelong mission to restore confidence in Indigenous knowledge systems. Traveling across villages, cities, and countries in West Africa, he shared his teachings, natural healthcare practices, and vision for societal transformation.

Driven by a belief that true development must emerge from a people’s own language and culture, he developed the Gbekoun Script—an innovative writing system designed to represent the sounds and meanings of all languages.
